Album Review: French Afrocentric by Twin Muses

I’m not sure how I missed this one as it seems to have been in my music library for a while now, well since somewhere in 2010 at least.

Mr. Moods, for those who are unaware of him, has been cruising the netlabel scene for a while now being one of the few netlabel Trip-hop artists to really create high quality and epic sounding tracks. In the case of Twin Muses he teamed up with vocalist Marquee Gibbs to create music reminiscent of Portis Head in some ways but music that is also unique in many others ways. Mr. Moods’ mastery of percussion, deep bass lines and enchanting melodies drives the warm tones Marquee’s voice as it drifts you into a Trip-hop dream. Pefect for those cold winter days in front of the fire or as a soundtrack to your early morning getting-ready-for-work routine. What am I saying?! It’s perfect for any time!

This 4 track EP features just enough songs to warm you up and wanting more. It will fit in seemlessly with all those classic Trip-hop tunes from the likes of Massive, Portis Head and Bjork. Released on the legendary Dusted Wax netlabel French Afrocentric is sure to become a classic album it self.
